Need for funding
Since its inception in Santa Maria, the National Day of Prayer remains a FREE event to all who participate, and attendees can enjoy a hamburger lunch with condiments and drinks provided by the Noontime Kiwanis Club of Santa Maria.
In 2019 the Board of Directors unanimously agreed to modify the format by which the various sectors in our community were incorporated into the call for prayer for our city, state, nation, families, and youth.
Due to the large number of churches and faith communities within our area of outreach, marketing materials (small cards, posters and flyers, and banners) need to be reformatted so as to be more inclusive of all peoples of Christian faith, and to provide greater awareness of and for the Mexican, Hispanic, Mixteco and Asian heritages.
Furthermore, due to the fact that many high school students do not have the ability to miss classes for this midday event, the May 2020 National Day of Prayer will provide two presentations in one day: the midday for those who are able to attend during their lunch break, and an evening event with a focus on teens and young adults in our community.
How will funding be used
As per the attached projected budget for this year, our major area of expense is marketing. Funds received will be utilized to underwrite the production costs of advertising
Funds received will also be utilized to provide an additional National Day of Prayer event for teens and young adults in the evening.
